Assistant Mill Operator (Inside) – Tuffy’s Pet Foods
Hours10pm-6am S-TH
Compensation- All in hourly compensation: $24.28/hr
- Base Pay: $20.96/hr
- Sign on Bonus: $1.22/hr worked
- 10% Shift Differential for Night Shift: $2.10/hr

Begins after completing 1 year of employment (7.7 million in 2025).

Tuffy’s Pet Food is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Night Shift, Assistant Mill Operator (Inside). The role involves unloading raw ingredients and assisting the Mill Room Operator with batching, mixing, and grinding feed while meeting all quality and safety requirements. The position reports to the Mill Supervisor.
Essential Duties- Sample incoming loads, deliver to lab, and ensure quality compliance.
- Weigh trucks in and out, verify paperwork (PO, BOL, seals).
- Set unloading system to correct bins, double‑check and verify with Mill Operator.
- Hand‑stack 50lb bags of minor ingredients for mixer dumping.
- Weigh micro‑ingredients for batch addition.
- Coordinate daily receiving truck schedules.
- Clean mill and driveway areas daily.
- Deliver bagged ingredients via forklift from warehouse to driveway and dump into pits.
- Inspect Rotex and leg magnets weekly; assist with monthly and semi‑annual inventories.
- Train new departmental employees.
- General mathematical and basic computer skills.
- Comfortable at heights, able to climb up to 150 feet (manlift). No fear of heights.
- Ability to learn, memorize, and execute procedures.
- Proficiency in reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.
- Team‑player attitude and willingness to fill in on other shifts as needed.
- Good judgment, communication, and reasoning skills.
- Forklift operation and certification.
- Physical capability to handle 100lb loads and 50lb routine loads.
