Responsibilities
- Assist the Production Leader and perform as a highly skilled operator.
- Coordinate work activities with the defined workstation team and maintain compliance with procedures.
- Perform quality‑control checks and act as the technical lead for first‑level problems.
- Schedule and nest the laser system and handle first‑level programming and maintenance tasks.
- Lead the daily operations of the Laser and Press Brake (1st Shift).
- Provide technical direction and support for all shifts of the Laser and Break Department, including interactions with engineering and equipment vendors on nesting, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Lead, guide, and mentor new hires and provide training in this area.
- Operate light, medium, and heavy equipment such as forklift trucks, front‑end loaders, and skid loaders.
- Interpret moderately complex drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine appropriate methods and techniques.
- Set up and operate the Trumpf Fiber Laser and Trumpf Press Brake.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
- Detect defective material, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties and report to the leader in accurate detail to ensure proper corrective actions.
- Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
- Actively participate in team meetings to communicate and resolve cost, quality, or production issues.
- Understand and apply the engineering change‑request process.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Maintain equipment and the work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 1 year of laser and press‑brake experience; 3 years preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with part‑nesting software; 2 years preferred.
- Experience and knowledge in basic laser and brake operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Trumpf equipment and software a plus.
- Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints.
- Strong experience with part fabrication.
- Capability to run open machines with versatility and flexibility.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Capability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to obtain and operate mobile equipment needed for essential functions.
- Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals.
- Employee must correctly wear and use any required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Vision, hearing, and mobility requirements are within normal limits for the job duties.
The approximate pay range for this position is $27–29 per hour. Compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location.
