About The Role

As a Shut Down Lead you will monitor the efficacy of the department, improve operating processes, and report to upper management. The lead will obtain scheduled packaging volumes, completing other packaging-oriented goals. Supervisors work in a variety of settings while maintaining a high level of product quality while ensuring adherence to plant SOPs, GMPs and plant safety requirements. Strict adherence to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), Food Safety, and Food Defense are mandatory.

Wednesday – Friday
6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
3x, 12-hour shifts

Your responsibilities
  • Operate blending equipment including shut down/start up procedures, troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Certified to operate a forklift
  • Requires valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of all paperwork
  • Completes periodic checks of associated operator paperwork throughout the shift
  • Ensure that paperwork is filled out properly and follows up with operators on any identified errors
  • Ensure that checks are getting done on time and follow up on any missed or late checks
  • Ensure that only the most current forms are being used on the Packaging Line
  • Reviews paperwork at the end of the shift for accuracy and completeness
  • Proficient in the accurate and detailed completion of QIs
  • Proficient in the detailed completion of work orders
  • Can Seaming Operation
  • Can complete seam teardowns for both metal and composite cans
  • Able to identify when seam evaluations indicate out of specification seams
  • If out of specification, stop production and notify supervisor immediately
  • Can grease all seaming machines per specifications
  • Certified to operate a forklift
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures and resolve issues
  • Knowledgeable of every operator position and demonstrates ability to perform in each position if needed due to personnel shortages
  • Knowledgeable of the packaging line flow and demonstrates the ability to identify deficiencies or issues during packaging operations that affect efficiencies, quality, and throughput
  • Strictly adheres to all GMPs and SOPs
  • Leads by example
  • Observes that all operators strictly adhere to GMPs and SOPs
  • Communicates directly with Supervisor(s) with any questions, comments, or concerns
  • Assists in training new operators
  • Maintains a positive, knowledgeable attitude and works collaboratively with all departments
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training or cross training
  • Works closely with the Packaging Line Quality Technician(s) and reports any quality related incidents or concerns in a timely manner
  • Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Completes all other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)
