We are seeking applicants for a Machinist in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill. The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team in support of a paper manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste.
  • Ability to create, interpret, and read prints for fabrication of components.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment for precision fabrication and machining of components.
  • Ability to operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, radial drill press, band saws, threading equipment, grinding equipment, and general machine shop equipment.
  • Perform pump repair, arc welding, proper rigging, alignment.
  • Ability to use mobile cranes, lifts, and hoists.
  • Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a 2-year technical program plus experience as a maintenance machinist or equivalent training and experience.
  • Able to pass pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, and bend.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a valid current driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a paper or other manufacturing environment.
  • Machinist training and certification are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must have experience and skills operating Milling machines, lathes, CNC operated machines, drill presses, and grinders.
  • Proficient with measuring tools of the machinist trade.
  • Able to analyze and resolve mechanical problems with design and fabrication of parts.
  • Able to work around mechanical components safely, troubleshoot in a safe manner, taking all precautions needed to protect yourself and those working with you.
  • Must be willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.
  • Ability to share ideas with others to solve problems of essential importance.
  • Thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly salary range for position: $32.61 (76% Apprentice) to $57.88
  • Paid Vacation.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision – and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
