About the Role

As a Shut Down Lead you will monitor the efficacy of the department, improve operating processes, and report to upper management. The lead will obtain scheduled packaging volumes, completing other packaging‑oriented goals while maintaining a high level of product quality and ensuring adherence to plant SOPs, GMPs, plant safety requirements, HACCP, Food Safety, and Food Defense.

Schedule

Wednesday – Friday, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, 3 × 12‑hour shifts.

Your Responsibilities
  • Operate blending equipment, including shutdown/startup procedures and troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Certify to operate a forklift with a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain knowledge of all paperwork: complete periodic checks of operator paperwork, ensure accurate filling, follow up on errors or missed checks, and verify use of current forms. Review paperwork at the end of each shift for accuracy and completeness.
  • Proficiently complete Quality Improvements (QIs) and detailed work orders.
  • Perform seaming operations: complete seam teardowns for both metal and composite cans, identify out‑of‑spec seams, stop production if necessary, and notify supervisors immediately.
  • Grease all seaming machines per specifications.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment failures.
  • Understand every operator position and perform duties in each position if needed due to personnel shortages.
  • Understand packaging line flow and identify deficiencies or issues affecting efficiencies, quality, and throughput.
  • Strictly adhere to GMPs and SOPs, lead by example, and observe others’ compliance.
  • Communicate directly with supervisors regarding questions, comments, or concerns.
  • Assist in training new operators.
  • Maintain a positive, knowledgeable attitude and work collaboratively with all departments.
  • Participate in ongoing training or cross‑training.
  • Collaborate closely with Packaging Line Quality Technicians and report quality incidents or concerns promptly.
  • Work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisors.
The Experience We're Looking For
  • Physical ability to complete job duties, including standing 8‑12 hours and lifting, pushing or pulling up to 100 lbs.
  • Work in varying temperature environments and perform repetitive motions (bend, twist).
  • Follow directions accurately and exercise attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Aptitude for adhering to detailed manufacturing processes and safety protocols.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time‑management skills and a detail‑oriented, reliable approach with the drive to take initiative and achieve high‑quality results.
  • Collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing or cross‑training.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Background in manufacturing or production is beneficial, but a strong desire to learn is also highly valued.

US Salary Ranges

USD $23.50 per hour (+ $2.75 Lead Incentive)

US Pay Transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience, job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus subject to change each year.
