We are looking for a Knitting Operator to join our team.
Job SummaryThe Knitting Operator is responsible for ensuring all required materials, documentation, and yarn are available for production setup. This position performs machine string-ups, monitors product quality, conducts size checks, and supports efficient knitting operations. Once trained, the Knitting Operator is responsible for operating 8–10 machines while maintaining quality and production standards.
Monday – Thursday 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours)

Responsibilities- Print and review all required production paperwork for ticket orders, including:
- String-up sheet
- Technical write-up sheet
- Sample garment
- Dimension sheet
- Style box documentation (for hand-cut machines)
- Verify the correct standard, extension, dimensions, and materials are available before beginning production. Check swatch book for color placement if more than one color
- Make sure machine is strung up correctly according to string up sheet
- Perform machine string-ups. Verify correct cone serial lot numbers are on the machine
- Order yarn from the warehouse
- Double tie cones on large orders
- Keep machine clean and oiled
- Monitor knitted fabric for defects and quality issues
- Sign out ticket quantity produced at end of shift or when ticket is completed and approved by the Knitting Technician
- Transfer yarn used on Ticket and return unused yarn to inventory
- Assist with general housekeeping and cleanliness of the department
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Maintain quality standards and report defects or equipment issues promptly
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent
Skills and Abilities
- Attention to detail and sensitivity to fabric aesthetics and brand identity
- Basic computer skills, especially for machine programming interfaces and record-keeping
- Ability to distinguish color variations, identify fabric defects, and observe machine operation details
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot
- Understanding of knitwear construction, yarn types, and garment finishing processes
- Ability to interpret knitwear tech packs and garment specifications
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
- Exhibits strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision-making skills
- Attendance is an essential function of the position
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
Required:
- Ability to learn machine setup procedures and quality standards
- Ability to read production documents and measurement specifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing, textile, knitting, or production environment
- Experience operating knitting machines
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel to inspect knitted materials and operate machinery safely and effectively
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Must be able to reach above your head to string up machines
- Ability to communicate effectively to coordinate daily knitting and production activities
- Ability to use hands and fingers for repetitive tasks, including tying knots and handling yarn
- Operate copier, computer and other office equipment
- Lift or move yarns and fabric rolls
- Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
