Industrial Painter

This role focuses on operating a high-pressure pot liquid painting machine to apply primer, undercoating, and top coat finishes on structural steel components in a modern manufacturing environment. You will read and interpret blueprints, mix and match paints to customer specifications, and ensure high-quality finished parts while using a computer to access work procedures, due dates, and special instructions.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a high-pressure pot liquid painting machine to apply primer, undercoating, and top coat finish paint on structural steel frames and shells.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand paint specifications, coverage requirements, and quality standards for each job.
  • Mix paints accurately and match colors to meet customer specifications and project requirements.
  • Perform quality inspections on painted parts to ensure proper coverage, finish, and adherence to specifications.
  • Use a computer to view and follow work procedures, blueprints, due dates, and special instructions for each work order.
  • Handle and position large structural steel components safely, using overhead lifting devices as needed.
  • Measure materials accurately using a tape measure and apply basic math to ensure correct dimensions and paint usage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized painting station, including equipment, tools, and work area.
  • Follow safety procedures and use proper protective equipment while working with paints, coatings, and industrial equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion of projects.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of liquid painting experience on structural steel or in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience operating industrial liquid painting equipment, including high-pressure pot systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for painting and finishing requirements.
  • Experience performing quality inspections on painted parts or finished products.
  • Ability to navigate and use a computer to access work procedures, blueprints, and instructions.
  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure accurately.
  • Comfort with learning and using an overhead lifting device in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions for measurements, mixing ratios, and material usage.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial plant environment.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Sandblasting experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience in an industrial or structural steel painting environment is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with industrial finishing processes and quality standards.
  • Comfort working with large components and in coordination with overhead cranes.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and adapt to evolving production needs.

Work

Environment

You will work in a large, open factory and plant floor featuring a brand-new, temperature-controlled building and painting booth. The facility includes large overhead cranes throughout the building and spacious painting stations designed to accommodate the size of the structural steel products. The workspace is clean, well-ventilated, and organized to support safe and efficient operations. The atmosphere allows you to listen to music while working, contributing to a comfortable and focused environment.

This is a first-shift position, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime available after the shift as needed, and offers room for advancement within the organization.
