Lab Technician – Pharmacy Production
This lab technician role focuses on supporting a commercial pharmacy production environment by preparing medications for compounding, assisting pharmacists with day-to-day operations, and managing the shipping and receiving of finished pharmaceutical products. The position involves hands-on work with compounding equipment, sterile production in clean rooms, and adherence to strict quality assurance and documentation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare medications for compounding in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
- Assist pharmacists with daily operational tasks in a commercial pharmacy setting.
- Operate powder machines, tablet and capsule grinding equipment, and other production machinery safely and accurately.
- Perform sterile compounding activities in a cleanroom environment while following all safety and cleanliness protocols.
- Ensure correct weights, measurements, and quantities for all compounded and packaged products.
- Package finished pharmaceutical products and prepare them for shipment in compliance with shipping guidelines.
- Handle shipping and receiving of finished products, including labeling, documentation, and coordination with the shipping dock.
- Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately and promptly, following strict quality assurance programs.
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of facilities, clean rooms, and equipment to maintain a safe and compliant work area.
- Participate in necessary training and continuing education to maintain and enhance technical and regulatory knowledge.
- Demonstrate effective communication with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other team members.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by proactively seeking ways to help colleagues and support workflow.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, productivity, safety, and security in all aspects of work.
- Follow written instructions and standard operating procedures and use sound reasoning to solve routine problems.
Qualifications:
- Laboratory or pharmacy experience with a HS diploma, Associates degree or bachelors degree
Work Environment:
The role is based in a pharmaceutical production facility that includes multiple departments, clean rooms, and a shipping dock. You typically work Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a schedule centered around daytime production operations. The majority of the team consists of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, creating a collaborative environment where everyone helps out where needed. Work is performed in cleanroom areas and production spaces that require adherence to strict cleanliness, safety, and equipment-handling protocols.
You will regularly use production machinery, compounding tools, and packaging equipment, and you will spend time in both controlled cleanroom environments and standard warehouse or dock areas. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Mankato, MN.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
