The role of a Shop Foreman is essential in the efficient operation of a manufacturing or repair facility. This position acts as a bridge between management and the shop floor, ensuring that work processes are executed smoothly and that all team members perform at their best. Responsible for fostering a positive work environment where employees feel valued and motivated.

Responsibilities
  • Assign tasks to shop staff based on skills and workload.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor production schedules and work progress.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Train new employees and provide continuous training for existing staff.
  • Coordinate maintenance of equipment and machinery.
  • Assist in inventory management and procurement of materials.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions.
  • Maintain records of production metrics and employee performance.
  • Facilitate communication between management and shop employees.
  • Lead team meetings to discuss progress and address concerns.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure quality control measures are followed throughout the production process.
  • Will be required to work on the floor as needed
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Advanced technical knowledge related to the industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with safety training and compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications preferred.
  • Several years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of shop operations and production processes.
  • Basic computer skills for managing schedules and reports.
