2nd Shift Paint Lead + 10% shift differential

Full Time Manual Labor Madison Lake, MN, US

Salary Range: $24.00 To $26.00 Hourly

Position Summary:

The Paint Lead will lead our industrial powder coat painting team by coordinating daily production schedules to produce high quality painted parts to print, within established production standards. Assist with development and maintenance of policies, processes and activities in a continuous improvement environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must be reliable, cooperative, with high attention to detail, and work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities at one time.
  • Ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly to maintain positive relationships.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret bills of materials and routings.
  • Provide work direction, assign tasks, and monitor work progress and employee performance.
  • Verify parts are hung properly and any requirements to mask, plug or protect areas of the part are performed per the job order and work instructions.
  • Responsible for the quality of painted parts, assembly, and packaging, able to recognize non-conforming parts.
  • Analyze data, determine root cause, develop implementation plans and resolve issues affecting powder coating quality and throughput.
  • Confirm daily procedures are followed, such as start-up and shut-down processes, and chemicals are monitored and maintained per established procedures.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and increase efficiency of department.
  • Coordinate routine department maintenance activities, assist with trouble shooting.
  • Monitors work assignments and communicates any concerns with lead.
  • Maintains inventory of paints, chemicals, and supplies for paint department.
  • Provide employee training, coaching, disciplinary action, and performance reviews.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:

  • Leadership & Team Development: Provides clear direction, coaching, training, and support to powder coat employees. Promotes accountability, teamwork, employee development, and a positive work environment while ensuring department goals are achieved.
  • Production Coordination & Prioritization: Effectively coordinates daily production schedules, work assignments, and department resources to meet production targets, quality standards, and delivery commitments.
  • Powder Coating Technical Knowledge: Demonstrates strong knowledge of powder coating processes, pretreatment systems, curing requirements, paint application techniques, masking methods, and finishing operations. Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance when needed.
  • Quality & Attention to Detail: Maintains high quality standards by ensuring parts are properly prepared, hung, masked, coated, cured, assembled, and packaged according to specifications. Identifies and addresses non-conforming products promptly.
  • Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Investigates quality, equipment, and production issues to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions. Utilizes data to improve department performance and product quality.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Communicates clearly and professionally with employees, supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other departments regarding production schedules, quality concerns, operational issues, and department needs.
  • Organization & Inventory Management: Maintains paint, chemical, and supply inventories while ensuring materials are properly stored, labeled, and available to support production requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality, efficiency, and workplace organization. Supports continuous improvement initiatives and standardized work practices.
  • Safety & Environmental Compliance: Promotes safe work practices and ensures compliance with safety procedures, chemical handling requirements, environmental regulations, and company policies related to powder coating operations.
  • Equipment & Process Management: Oversees daily operation of powder coating equipment and pretreatment systems. Verifies start-up, shutdown, maintenance, and chemical monitoring procedures are followed consistently.
