Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

• Serve as the primary caregiver to newborn infants in the nursery and birth center, providing quality medical services and ensuring safe, effective care.
• Assess, diagnose, and carry out procedures and medical tests in the care of newborn infants.
• Develop treatment plans for infants with complex health issues.
• Prescribe medication on own authority with agreement of pediatric physicians.
• Respond to quality of care concerns and participate in review and implementation of solutions from patient satisfaction survey results.
• Promote a positive culture that supports physicians and staff to deliver excellent patient care.
• Ensure proactive communication with key staff and organization leaders, acting as liaison with other departments to ensure optimal patient care.
• Oversee training of new employees and mentor staff.
• Support operational success by ensuring implementation and success of operational improvements, including compliance efforts, coding, business compliance, and regulatory licensing assistance.
• Ensure a successful newborn program by collaborating with pediatric providers, following consistent operational processes, and providing feedback and coaching to staff.

• Master's degree in nursing from a Registered Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current RN license with the MN Board of Nursing, in good standing.
• Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Minnesota.
• Three years’ experience in a NICU.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and exercise good judgement.
• Flexibility to work long shifts, often 24-hour shifts.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and BLS certifications (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and conflicting interests (preferred).
• Strong written and oral communication skills (preferred).

• 24-hour call coverage (7:00 AM - 7:00 AM) in the Birth Center.
• 8 required 24-hour call shifts per month.
• Every fourth weekend rotation.

The hourly shift rate is $88.00.
