Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in assisted living, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting, performs testing to evaluate resident status, recognizes problems, recommends solutions, and responds effectively in emergent situations.
Responsibilities- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, health care providers, and the public.
- Work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Provide counseling to residents, family members, or a resident advocate on prevention and treatment plans, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
- Develop a self‑care program based on resident education principles.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited school or college of nursing program leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Long‑term care, sub‑acute care, or medical/surgical experience preferred.
- Current licensure as a practical nurse in the state(s) of practice.
