College Laboratory Assistant 2 – Nursing
This position exists to maximize both required and open lab learning for nursing students and includes simulation activities in the Simulation and Practice Labs.
Salary Range: $21.89 – $31.44
(July1,2025–June
30,2026). For hires starting after July1,2026, the salary range will be $22.27–$31.12.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- simulation and practice lab maintenance
- inventory control and purchasing of lab equipment and supplies
- simulation and practice lab preparation and operation
- facilitate training and instructional use of simulation/lab equipment
- facilitate practice of skills previously taught by nursing faculty
- re‑reinforce course content previously taught by nursing faculty as directed
- document student activities and provide feedback to nursing faculty
- provide administrative support to the nursing department
This employee will have considerable autonomy in their areas of responsibility, although general direction will be provided by Nursing Faculty and the Dean of Nursing.
Minimum Qualifications- Post‑secondary or industry certification/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Nursing Sciences
- Current unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse License
- At least one of the following: one year of teaching/tutoring experience in Nursing Sciences or four years of work experience in Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing
- Prior simulation experience
- Previous experience within the Minnesota State System
- Prior experience teaching in the nursing program (classroom, laboratory, or clinical)
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communication to diverse individuals, including students, staff, faculty, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to anticipate and address problems pertaining to operation of lab/simulation equipment and software
- Ability to seek out and apply creative approaches to decision‑making, lab/simulation preparation, and utilization of resources
- In accordance with Minnesota State Colleges & Universities Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle must conform to vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
- A job offer may be contingent upon successfully passing a background check, which may consist of a Criminal Background Check, Employment Record Review (current and former state employees only), Employment Reference Check, and Conflict of Interest Review.
The college cannot offer H‑1B sponsorship. A candidate must be able to work in the United States by the day employment begins.
Work HoursFall and spring semesters:
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 7:30‑4:30 (24hours/week).
Summer semester:
Mondays and Tuesdays 7:30‑4:30 (16hours/week).
