Jobs in Alexandria, MN - Alomere Health Hours Variable :

Shifts begin from 6:00am to 9:00am and shifts conclude between 2:30pm and 5:30pmVariable call weekend rotation dependent on the number of circulating nurses on staff.

Position Objective The circulating nurse serves as the patient advocate while the patient is most vulnerable. The circulating nurse is responsible for managing all nursing care within the operating room, observing the surgical team from a broad perspective, and assisting the team to create and maintain a safe, comfortable environment for the patient’s surgery.

Essential Responsibilities Conform with and provide nursing care according to the Physician orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards and State/Federal regulations

Monitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to insure patient comfort and safety

Perform routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times

Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans

Conduct pre- and post-operative evaluation

Ensure that operating on correct patient and the correct procedure is being performed

Administer medications and treatments

Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse

Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms

Prep operating room for patient/procedure

Initiate patient education plan, as prescribed by Physician Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting

Assist in positioning, responding to comfort/safety of patient

Provide for accurate care and handling of specimens

Observe and enforce strict standards of asepsis

Observe, check and monitor all equipment used during surgery to confirm they are running smoothly

Manage documentation of care throughout the perioperative experience

Perform operating room cleaning in accordance in accordance to infection control policies

Other Responsibilities Perform all other related duties as assigned in a professional and responsive manner

Demonstrate the ability to use relevant equipment

Support, understand, and promote Alomere Health’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures

Ability to meet the work schedule requirements with flexibility dependent upon the needs of the department

Union Position Yes Required  Qualifications Graduate of one of the following approved professional nursing schools:
Two-year Associate’s Degree Program;
Three-year Diploma Program; or Four-year BSN Program Must have completed Peri-op course or have previous OR experience

Active or current registration/licensure in the state of Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Nursing Certified Operating Room Nurse Knowledge,

Facilitate communication to the patient’s family and members of the operating team Nurse must support the mission, goals, policies and standards of the nursing department and hospital to ensure excellence in nursing practice

Must participate in professional growth and self-development activities to ensure accountability for own professional nursing practice

Promote an environment that encourages individual growth and nurtures professional practice

Utilize experience and educational skills to assume an active role in orienting/teaching of staff

Supervisory Responsibilities Coordinate and direct unit operation so that patient/family needs are met and staff is efficiently utilized

The Charge Nurse is responsible for the assignment of nursing personnel to patient care and other responsibilities consistent with patient needs and staff competence

The Registered Nurse provides supervision of patient care provided by the LPN and/or Patient Care Assistants Internal Applicants Will not be combined with other positions. Will be scheduled a majority of shifts in OR.License or Certification Active and current registration/licensure in the state of Minnesota
