Description

Wage scale $22.50-$26.59 based on experience + Shift Differential. Shift Differential also added to base rate. Evening Shift $3.00.

Position Requirements

The N.A.R. must be currently registered and in good standing with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry, have passed all background checks, and be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must also be able to create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility, and must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position relating to and working with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility.

Principal

Accountabilities Personal Care Functions Resident Assistance
  • Follows Resident’s Care Plans.
  • Prepares residents for visits by physician, family and other visitors.
  • Bathes and dresses resident as needed: sees that the residents are properly and comfortably clothed, combs hair, shaves residents, trims nails and assists with personal and dental hygiene.
  • Assists with end of life and postmortem care as needed.
  • Observes and reports any changes in skin condition (dryness, skin tears, redness, open areas, etc.)
  • Answers Call Lights.
Exercise/Restorative/Rehabilitative Care
  • Positions for comfort in bed and chairs, transporting resident into and out of beds, chairs, bathroom, wheelchair, lifts, etc.
  • Assists with lifting, turning, moving.
  • Carries out restorative and rehabilitative programs as ordered. Instruct residents in self‑help, use of medical appliances, etc.
Elimination
  • Assists resident to and from bathroom.
  • Uses appropriate incontinence product for each resident as specified in the care plan.
  • Provides perineal care as required.
  • Monitors and documents output as requested/instructed.
Vital Signs and Weights
  • Takes and records TPR and BP as assigned.
  • Weighs resident weekly and as requested and record.
Equipment
  • Upon orientation N.A.R. will be trained on the use of all equipment.
Secondary Accountabilities

Additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices. This position has the potential for exposure to body fluids and chemicals. Physical demands of the job include bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead. Individuals in this position must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach while performing patient cares, carry 11–24 lbs. and lift no more than 30 lbs. Individuals need to be familiar with the various types of mechanical equipment used in the nursing department.

Staff will be trained in the specific equipment used to perform their job during floor orientation.

Education & Schedules

Will be required to attend all educational meetings provided and complete all mandatory in‑services in a timely fashion (on or before deadlines). Training will be provided for any new procedures or policies that are adopted, including the use of the computers and software that the New Richland Care Center uses for resident record keeping. As required by the state of Minnesota, to maintain 12 hours of in‑service yearly, in order to keep your certification for nursing assistant updated.

Schedules are based on the census of residents which may fluctuate up or down, there are no guaranteed fixed number of hours a pay period nor a fixed schedule. Schedules are subject to change for the well‑being of the residents and the efficient operation of the facility. It is the employee’s responsibility to check the schedule for changes.
