Job Description
Olivia Hospital & Clinic is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Medicine team. This is a 0.60 FTE part-time position supporting the Olivia Hospital & Clinic Emergency Medicine Department. Olivia Hospital & Clinic is part of Health Partners, a large health care organization spanning Minnesota and western Wisconsin. It serves more than 1.2 million patients, and the role plays a critical part in delivering daily patient care.
QualificationsMust hold a current, unrestricted medical license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Must be comfortable working independently and have a minimum of three years of emergency medicine experience.
Locations and Work SchedulePrimary work site:
Olivia Hospital & Clinic. Requires flexibility to work a variety of shift lengths, from 12‑hour to 72‑hour shifts, with assignments including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Assess patients to determine physical and emotional needs.
- Obtain a complete medical history and physical data.
- Order appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Perform a complete physical exam and record findings.
- Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long‑term medical needs.
- Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
- Prescribe and administer medications and injections according to physician directions.
- Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Post tests and examination results.
- Perform procedures approved within scope of practice and as instructed by physician.
- Delegate care and refer to specialties as appropriate.
- Respect patient privacy.
- Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
- Provide patient education.
- Instruct patients on medications and treatment instructions.
- Establish patient‑specific goals aligned with overall care plan.
- Communicate data to health team members to provide continuity of care.
- Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Communicate changes in client status with provider and/or family members.
- Modify, implement, and evaluate individualized teaching plans to restore, maintain, or promote health.
- Collaborate with other health team members in intra/inter departmental issue recognition and resolution.
- Give pertinent and timely reports to co‑workers.
- Utilize electronic medical record effectively.
- Document accurately and legibly.
