Under the direction of licensed nursing staff, demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the CNA role in the team delivery of patient care as defined by the MN Board of Nursing and reinforced in CCM Health policies. Assists in providing activities of daily living and comfort measures according to a written plan of care for assigned patients, and supports patient care activities of a technical nature and daily unit activities and order.

The CNA coordinates communication, processes orders for new admissions, outpatients, and observation bed patients, transcribes orders, assembles patient charts, orders tests and other necessities, assists the professional nurse with clerical duties, and answers all incoming calls directing them to the proper location. The position requires high-level customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, the public, coworkers and others.

• Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant course.
• Current unrestricted Minnesota Nursing Assistant Certificate is required.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Knowledge of basic mathematical computations; skill in taking temperatures, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and weight.
• Legible printing and/or handwriting.
• Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions; to observe and report anything that varies from normal or expected.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with patients, families and health team members.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
• Ability to manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations and hospital procedures.
• Basic computer skills.
• Demonstrates organizational skills.
• Demonstrates excellent service and telephone etiquette.

Experience is preferred but not required.
