Physician Assistant, Family Medicine

• Provide advanced nursing care to patients of all ages, from infants to older adults
• Conduct comprehensive physical exams and health assessments
• Obtain and interpret patient histories and diagnostic tests
• Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic medical conditions
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments within the scope of practice
• Develop and implement individualized care plans
• Provide health education and counseling on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle choices
• Manage follow-up care and coordinate referrals to specialists when needed
• Perform minor procedures such as wound care and suturing
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record system
• Participate in quality improvement and practice initiatives
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members
• Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice guidelines

• Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice
• State Controlled Substance License, if required by the state
• National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C or FNP-BC)
• Obtain and maintain required specific competencies and certifications outlined on the privilege form
• Experience in primary care or family medicine preferred
• Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements may supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice
