Fire Explorer Program

Woodbury Public Safety sponsors Police and Fire Explorer Posts. Fire exploring is a hands-on, vocation based program of Learning for Life, open to women and men ages 14-20, interested in a career field in fire or emergency medical services.

The program provides young adults a personal awareness of fire and emergency medical services through training, practical experiences, competition and other activities. Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism.

Woodbury Fire Explorers are youth-led and supported by adult advisors that teach important life and career skills to young people from all backgrounds through immersive career experiences and mentorship. We equip young people with character, leadership and life skills that can be used both today and in their future careers.

• Women and men age 14-20 (individuals "age out" of the program when they turn 21 years of age).
• Explore the field of public safety/fire/emergency medical services
• Regular meetings
• Develop leadership skills
• Participate in hands on training
• Annual competitions
• Give back to the community through volunteerism
• Uniforms provided

Between the ages of 14-20 years of age

A City of Woodbury application and essay must be submitted to be considered for this opportunity.

The Supplemental Essay should be attached to your application through NEOGOV. The Supplemental Essay should explain your interest in Woodbury Public Safety and why you want to be a Fire Explorer in 500 words or less.
