Waterfront Restoration's mission is to preserve Minnesota lakes and protect them from these invasive species and other AIS threats.
Job DescriptionThe Watercraft Inspector position serves to inform and educate the public to the threats of ecologically harmful aquatic invasive species (AIS) to Minnesota’s waters. Inspectors will undergo training of MN DNR protocols and perform thorough inspections on all entering or exiting watercraft at multiple lakes throughout Ramsey County. Inspectors will work at public water access sites educating the public by providing information to watercraft users and conducting a brief survey while inspecting watercraft for invasive species.
Part Time Positions:
Mid-May through September
- Lake Sarah, two Public Water Access
- Lake Shetek, four Public Water Accesses
- Bloody Lake Boat Access
- Current Lake West Access
- Fulda First and Second Lake
- Big Slough
Must be available weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
Schedule- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Holidays

Duties- Educate the public on the AIS program and current issues.
- Inspection of watercraft for invasive species (inbound and outbound).
- Documentation of inspection activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices while inspecting watercraft.
- Verbal communication and customer relations experience.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a professional setting.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in the various Minnesota weather conditions.
- Willing to work weekends and holidays. Shifts will be primarily on Saturdays and Sundays within your availability.
- Typical shifts are scheduled for 8 hours or split between two launches on the same lake for 4 hours each.
- Roaming Watercraft Inspector will drive to and work on approximately eight boat launches within Murray County.
- Requires walking, standing, and moving about the boat launch area to a significant degree depending on traffic.
$15.50-$19.50 Hourly Base (DOQ) + Monthly Performance Bonus
