Job DescriptionThe QA/QC & Safety Lead is a dual‑role position responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality standards and that all safety policies are implemented and adhered to across the manufacturing site. This individual plays a critical role in both product integrity and employee well‑being, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and driving continuous improvement in quality and safety practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESQuality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)- Develop, implement, and monitor quality control processes to ensure consistent production standards across all departments.
- Create and maintain product specifications, process documents, and testing protocols.
- Oversee incoming material inspections and verify that supplier‑provided materials meet internal requirements and regulatory standards.
- Conduct in‑process and final product inspections to identify deviations, non‑conformities, and ensure adherence to company and customer specifications.
- Perform and document quality assurance testing, including DOT compliance requirements, and prepare accurate reports and analysis.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) plans for quality issues.
- Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools to analyze data and recommend improvements.
- Manage and maintain all documentation and records related to quality inspections, audits, and certifications.
- Support internal and external audits, including customer, regulatory, and third‑party audits.
- Train team members on QA/QC procedures and ensure a quality‑focused mindset across the facility.
- In coordination with corporate safety leadership and other Afinitas sites, develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs aligned with OSHA, state, and local regulations.
- Lead the site‑wide safety committee and initiatives to foster a proactive safety culture across all departments.
- Establish and manage a safety audit program to include regularly scheduled safety audits, hazard assessments, and work process assessments as well as inspections of equipment and work spaces.
- Support incident investigations, determine root causes, implement corrective measures and share outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, near misses, and training; submit required reports to regulatory bodies.
- Deliver safety training programs, including onboarding, refresher courses, equipment operation, PPE, emergency response, and hazardous materials handling.
- Collaborate with and manage an external safety consultant(s) as needed to ensure alignment with corporate and site‑level safety programs.
- Track and report key safety metrics (TRIR, DART rates) and recommend strategic initiatives to improve performance.
- Minimum three years of experience in a manufacturing quality control/assurance role.
- Experience with safety program implementation in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of quality methodologies (ISO standards, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP or QMS systems is a plus.
