Job SummaryThe Quality Technician at Steel & O'Brien Manufacturing provides advanced quality support beyond routine inspection activities. This role bridges Quality Control and Quality Engineering by performing detailed inspections, supporting nonconformance investigations, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Primary Functions- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on fabricated stainless-steel components and assemblies, including weld quality, surface finish, and dimensional conformance.
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for dimensional verification (PC-DMIS experience a plus).
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.
- Document inspection results and nonconformances in accordance with company procedures.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Skilled use of precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to analyze inspection data and identify trends.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and documentation practices.
- Dependable and consistent work habits in a production environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience inspecting fabricated stainless steel components and assemblies.
- Experience with CMM programming and operation (PC-DMIS a plus).
- Working knowledge of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with welding inspection and surface finish requirements.
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate quality records.
