Location: in Northfield, will move to the Lakeville plant in the future

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on welded, painted, and fabricated components to ensure products meet established specifications and quality standards. This position supports production by verifying dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and coating finishes, as well as documenting and reporting non-conformances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect metal components, assemblies, and finished products for conformance to drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct weld inspections using industry-standard gauges and measurement tools.
  • Verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Inspect paint and coating thickness and surface finish against quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and tolerances.
  • Accurately record inspection results, maintain inspection records, and report non-conformances.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and quality staff to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in welding, paint, or dimensional inspection.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use standard inspection tools.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience in ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 environments.
  • Previous involvement in audits or advanced inspection methods.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and use of hands.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with typical noise, equipment, and temperature conditions.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
