The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Assistant Manager assures that all products produced at the plant meet or exceed company standards and comply with local, state, and federal regulations in conjunction with the FSQA Manager. This position assists in developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving the Quality Assurance programs which assure food quality and safety while overseeing and occasionally directing a staff of 14.
The role also ensures that finished products meet product specifications as outlined by the customer’s functional needs, food safety specifications and service by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
- Supervises the Quality Assurance team members in conjunction with the FSQA Manager.
- Assists in assuring that all shipped products meet the product specifications, food safety issues and regulatory issues.
- Performs audits to monitor for compliance within the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and food safety issues.
- Maintains compliance with the FDA labeling regulations.
- Performs audits to monitor the sanitary conditions within the manufacturing facility.
- Audits the facility pest control program.
- Assists in monitoring and reporting the facility quality score, service score and complaint report.
- Works to positively motivate employees and instills an attitude of continuous improvement.
- Handles crew disciplinary issues in the absence of the FSQA Manager as needed with input from Human Resources Manager.
- Trains and oversees site personnel to ensure adherence to department protocols.
- Maintains current knowledge of government and industry FSQA codes and standards (GFSI, BRC, HACCP, ADEC, USDC, and others) and ensures compliance.
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
- Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
This is a salaried-exempt position between $85,000 to $95,000 per year.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- A minimum of 1 years’ supervisory experience in the Quality Assurance field, preferably in food production or seafood industry
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Intermediate proficiency with MS office applications, specifically, Excel
- Knowledge of HACCP regulations, Food Safety, and Audit procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in food or biological sciences
- HACCP certification
- Working knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) schemes including BRCGS, SQF, etc.
- Knowledge of food manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding food safety protocols used in food manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data recording.
- Strong Time Management skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to follow written procedures
- Ability clearly documents issues, corrective actions and product disposition.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments
While performing the duties of the job employees will be exposed to warm humid environments as well as short term exposure to freezing temperatures. Will be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.
