Quality Assurance Coordinator | Melrose, MN | 5-Month Contract
Sigma Inc. is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Coordinator to support food safety, quality systems, and manufacturing operations at an onsite facility in Melrose, MN. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in quality assurance, food manufacturing, dairy science, HACCP, GMP, auditing, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with production teams to ensure finished products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Job SummaryThe Quality Assurance Coordinator partners with operations and production teams to maintain product quality, food safety, and compliance with company quality management systems. This role supports quality programs, audits, corrective actions, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Support operations teams to ensure finished products meet customer specifications and quality requirements
- Maintain compliance with quality and food safety standards, including: HACCP, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), BRC standards, EQMS requirements, regulatory requirements
- Administer and monitor quality assurance programs and procedures
- Provide quality and food safety support to production and quality departments
- Assist management teams with quality system maintenance
- Track and follow up on product safety quality events and corrective actions
- Prepare and maintain plant audit documentation and quality records
- Perform product positive release activities
- Manage external warehouse inventory processes
- Review HACCP documentation related to positive release
- Complete SharePoint quality system updates
- Assist with laboratory calibration activities
- Support development of quality training materials
- Provide backup support to Quality Supervisor and lab technicians
- Maintain non-conforming product and downgrade tracking
- Support specification deviation management
- Assist with product specification updates
- Manage customer product samples
- Support document control program management
- Coordinate lot tracking and traceability exercises
- Assist with environmental monitoring programs
- Manage GMP audit programs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Associate degree or higher required
- Preferred education in:
Food Science, Dairy Science, Food Technology, related scientific field - Strong understanding of quality assurance processes in manufacturing environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or related field
- Experience in dairy manufacturing or food production quality assurance
- Knowledge of: HACCP programs, GMP requirements, quality audits, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), food safety systems
- Experience with quality documentation and regulatory compliance
- Strong troubleshooting, training, and problem-solving skills
