We are now looking for Research Scientist to join our Immunotechnology team.
As a Research Scientist, you will play a critical role in creating innovative solutions for the diagnostic and pre-clinical therapeutic industries. Your expertise will drive the development of scalable, high-quality antibody reagents that support rapid, accurate, and cost-effective diagnostic tools. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate novel antibody technologies into real-world applications, contributing to advancements in healthcare, drug monitoring, and biomarker detection.
Our team, Immunotechnology, specializes in the production, purification and characterization of recombinant antibodies and developing novel immunoassays. Our work includes creating innovative antibody-based solutions for diagnostics, pre-clinical therapeutics, and rapid testing platforms. By advancing technologies such as antibody engineering, high-yield production, and assay development, the team enables faster, more accurate, and cost-effective diagnostic tools for healthcare and industry.

Through research, our team helps VTT address major societal challenges—such as improving health, safety, and quality of life—while strengthening Finland’s and Europe’s position in global research and technology development.
- Perform protein engineering and expression, focus on expressing antibody fragments in bacterial cells, optimizing yields, and troubleshooting expression issues.
- Develop novel assays, such as design and validate immunoassays to test antibody-antigen interactions and study immune responses in a high-throughput assay format.
- Perform statistical analyses, apply quantitative methods to interpret assay results and validate reproducibility.
- Apply molecular biology techniques such as gene cloning to generate expression constructs and phage display technology to isolate antigen-specific binders.
- Perform functional screening to evaluate antibody candidates for specificity, cross-reactivity, and functional activity in relevant biological assays.
- Use your advanced skills in English to write research reports that help the team communicate its results clearly.
- You have a M. Sc or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology or a closely related field.
- You have experience various Molecular Biology / Immunotechnology relevant techniques such as gene cloning, phage display, protein expression, immunoassay development or related research.
- Collaboration, adaptability, and critical thinking are required to enhance the ability to innovate and solve complex challenges in antibody research.
- You have excellent communication skills in English, both in written and spoken.
- A fast learner who enjoys working in a flexible independent manner, and collaborating with colleagues across different fields of science and technology.
- You enjoy challenges and learning new things and have a strong passion for science and research and development.
