Lab Technician

Job Description

The primary role of a chemical technician is to conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to support scientists in performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials. This position can be either a research technician working in an experimental lab or a process control technician in a manufacturing setting. The research technician focuses on research and development, collecting samples or producing compounds, while the process control technician emphasizes quality assurance and production processes.

Responsibilities

+ Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

+ Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation techniques, and microscopy.

+ Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in qualitative and quantitative analyses of materials.

+ Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses.

+ Provide technical support and assistance to chemists and engineers.

+ Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standardized formulas or create experimental formulas.

+ Maintain, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment.

+ Write technical reports or prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results.

+ Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies.

Essential Skills

+ Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, and analytical and problem-solving ability.

+ Team player with attention to detail.

+ Basic knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and their chemical processes and transformations.

+ Understanding of the aspects of chemical manufacturing and its impact on the environment and safety.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate's degree in applied science or related field required. Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biology preferred.

+ 0-2 years of experience in a similar role.

+ Familiarity with MS Office and statistical software is preferred.

Work Environment

This role is 100% onsite with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with potential flexibility. The facility offers a beautiful campus with a walking path and an on-site cafeteria with great options and an outdoor terrace for enjoying lunch outside. It is a collaborative environment where consultants are trained and integrated into other projects and have opportunities to network for long-term opportunities.

This is a Contract position based out of EAGAN, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
