Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to join our team as a Food Service Substitute at Park Rapids District. This position is ideal for those looking to support our food service operations on an as‑needed basis. The Food Service Substitute will assist in providing nutritious meals to students and staff while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This role requires adaptability and a commitment to fostering a positive dining experience.
Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with established menus and dietary guidelines.
- Ensure that all food safety and sanitation standards are met and maintained throughout food preparation and service.
- Set up and clean dining areas, including tables, chairs, and serving stations.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and according to established procedures.
- Support the regular food service staff in daily tasks, including inventory management and restocking supplies.
- Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring that all meals are appealing and nutritious.
- Respond to student and staff inquiries regarding meal options and dietary restrictions.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in food service or kitchen operations is a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with a team.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- A current food handler’s permit or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe(preferred).
- Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
