General Function:
Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service. Creates beginning levels of design work for floral arrangements and supports merchandising needs. Assists customers with placing orders and completes the paperwork. Takes deliveries and prepares delivery lists.
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by treating customers as the most important people in the store and displaying professionalism in all interactions.
- Greets customers and learns names when possible; assists with locating products, loading or unloading heavy items, and noting customer suggestions or requests.
- Handles phone inquiries with friendly, helpful service and assists with placing floral orders in person or over the phone, completing related paperwork.
- Works with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Prepares, finishes, and replenishes products as needed, including small floral arrangements, corsages, bouquets, balloons, and related items.
- Waters plants; prepares daily delivery lists; sends and retrieves orders via FTD, Teleflora, and computer systems.
- Reviews freshness and status of floral products; anticipates department needs daily; unloads trucks and stores products appropriately.
- Checks in product, processes invoices if applicable, and maintains clean, neat work areas (coolers, counters, floors, sinks, etc.).
- Operates department registers and handles payments where applicable; removes trash promptly.
- Maintains personal hygiene and dress in accordance with company guidelines; adheres to store policies and schedules.
- Orders products and supplies as needed.
- Prices products for customers as necessary.
- Delivers orders as needed and assists in other areas of the store as required.
- Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Must be able to solve practical problems and interpret instructions; perform arithmetic operations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages; file, post, mail materials; copy data; interview to obtain information; guide people and provide basic direction.
Education and ExperienceLess than High School or six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Physical RequirementsMedium work: exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Visual requirements include various ranges; depth and color perception. Activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working ConditionsStore environment with potential exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement, chemicals/solvents, electrical hazards, and dampness. Significant deadlines and multiple priorities typical.
Equipment UsedStandard tools and equipment used in a floral environment including computer, scissors, knives, pricing gun, dosetron, pick machine, register system, helium tank, and telephone.
Contacts and ConfidentialityHas daily contact with the general public and customers; weekly contact with suppliers/vendors. Maintains confidentiality on orders (including sender/receiver, order details, and cost).
