Reporting Structure

Accountable and reports to:
District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Manager of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home;
Wine & Spirits Department Manager. Positions that report to you:
None.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
  • Make an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible.
  • Assist customers by escorting them to the products they’re looking for, securing products that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and passing along customer suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
  • Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Educate customers about products.
  • Rotate, face, and replenish merchandise and ensure highest quality standards are met.
  • Check in product, put product away, and review invoices when required.
  • Maintain displays in the department and throughout the store.
  • Understand and follow local, state, and company policies on sales of tobacco and liquor.
  • Remove trash in a timely manner.
  • Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and neat.
  • Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
  • Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Order product at supervisor’s request.
  • Assist with inventory as requested.
  • Build displays as needed.
  • Assist in other areas of store as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or verbal instructions and deal with a few concrete variables.
  • Perform simple addition and subtraction; copy figures, count, and record data.
  • Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
Education and Experience
  • No education requirement.
  • Over six months up to one year of similar or related work experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 20 pounds frequently; 10 pounds constantly.
  • Visual requirements: vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction; depth perception; color vision; field of vision.
  • Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to dirt, cleaning solvents, and equipment movement hazards.
  • Exposure to temperature extremes and dampness.
  • Fast-paced work environment with significant pressure.
Equipment Used
  • Two-wheeler, cash register, pallet jack, box cutter, feather duster, telephone.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly starting wage: $13.00 to $15.60 depending on experience. Benefits available.
