Accountable and reports to:
District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home;
Bakery Department Manager. Positions that report to you:

- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, smiling and greeting customers and learning their names whenever possible.
- Assist customers with escorting to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, and other tasks that enhance the shopping experience.
- Answer the telephone promptly and take product orders, including customer calls and orders at the bakery counter.
- Check daily orders, set a production timeline and schedule, and track daily retail production.
- Decorate bakery items in a timely manner while keeping current on new designs and trends.
- Ensure department standards are met and maintain a clean, organized work area with proper sanitation procedures.
- Check cake orders for details (size, deco pack, icing needs, dates) and indicate supply needs.
- Order supplies for the decorating area and verify completion of each order.
- Deliver products and set up wedding cakes on site (outside the store).
- Communicate with the bakery manager regarding displays, weekly ads, and special needs daily.
- Check product dates, pull cases for work, and list items to fill or replace.
- Develop bakery orders for bakers, including cake sizes and specifications.
- Identify tasks to be completed and operate as a lead worker with part‑time or other employees, instructing and reviewing work.
- Participate in employee cross‑training.
- Wrap all product as necessary.
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed.
- Perform other job‑related duties or special projects as required.
- Problem‑solving with limited standardization of variables.
- Arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to file, post, mail materials, and copy data between records.
- Interviewing to obtain basic information and guide people with basic direction.
High school diploma or equivalent and six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Physical Requirements- Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Visual requirements: vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with or without correction; color vision and depth perception.
Store environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities; exposure to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals/solvents, residual fumes, and temperature extremes.
Equipment UsedStandard bakery tools and equipment such as mixers, ovens, turntables, tips, bas, airbrush, telephone copier, cake machine, and intercom system.
ContactsDaily contact with the general public for taking orders; weekly contact with suppliers/vendors.
CompensationHourly starting wage of $12.00 to $15.00 depending on experience.
