We are seeking motivated men and women to join the largest sheriff's office in northern Minnesota with a staff of 300 including 118 licensed Deputies serving the largest county in Minnesota—over 7,500 square miles, home to 202,000 residents, and a destination for thousands more each season. From the rugged Lake Vermilion to the international port city of Duluth, St. Louis County offers a variety of duty stations, from remote wilderness posts to urban policing.

The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $32.44 - $47.13 per hour.

Distinguishing Features Of WorkAn employee in this class is responsible to perform routine criminal investigation, law enforcement and process serving tasks. Duties include responding to calls for service within a patrol area and enforcing laws by proactive patrolling and investigating crimes. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

Minimum Qualifications (Pass/Fail):
- Meet the educational requirements or reciprocity standards of the Minnesota Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Board to become licensed as a peace officer according to Minnesota Rules ; OR possession of a valid Minnesota POST license, eligibility, or reciprocity application.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Ability to lawfully possess a firearm in the State of Minnesota.
