Position Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Concrete Finisher to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for finishing, smoothing, and polishing concrete surfaces on a variety of projects. As a member of a union workforce, the role requires strict adherence to safety standards and union guidelines. Key Responsibilities:

• Smooth, level, and finish freshly poured concrete surfaces using hand and power tools.
• Align forms, check the concrete for correct depth and pitch, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Apply finishing techniques such as troweling, floating, brushing, edging, and curing.
• Set forms, install rebar, and handle other pre-pour activities as needed.
• Monitor the effects of weather conditions on curing concrete and take appropriate action to ensure proper setting.
• Repair and resurface damaged concrete structures when required.
• Assist with the pouring of concrete into forms and operate machines that spread, vibrate, and level concrete.
• Work collaboratively with other tradespeople on-site to meet project timelines and goals.
• Follow safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition, reporting any damages or repairs needed.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

• Union Membership: Must be a current member in good standing.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of concrete finishing experience in commercial, industrial, highway or residential projects.
• Skills:
• Proficient in the use of concrete finishing tools (trowels, edgers, floats, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of formwork and concrete composition.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of the curing process and techniques.
• Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
• Ability to stand, kneel, and work in various weather conditions for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights when required.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, ACI Concrete Finishing) preferred but not required.
