Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and align forms for concrete according to blueprints or plans.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete in specified proportions.
- Smooth, level, and finish freshly poured concrete using trowels, floats, and screeds.
- Monitor the effects of weather conditions on concrete curing and make necessary adjustments.
- Apply sealing and hardening components to cure surfaces.
- Create textured or decorative surfaces by imprinting patterns in fresh concrete.
- Cut expansion joints into concrete using saws and cutting tools.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- Supervise and train junior workers on proper techniques and tool usage.
- Maintain a clean job site; pick up tools and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledgeable in OSHA standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
- Proven experience as a Cement Finisher or similar role.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
- Strong knowledge of concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques.
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery used in concrete finishing.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Projects will be located in the Minneapolis and St. Paul Metro and surrounding area. Subsequent projects will be nationally based. Work is primarily performed on active construction job sites, including highways, roadways and heavy civil infrastructure projects. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind and dust. Position requires walking, standing, climbing, bending and lifting in a construction environment.
May require extended work hours, early mornings, nights, weekends and occasional holidays to meet project schedules. Frequent interaction with heavy equipment, moving machinery, traffic and construction hazards; strict adherence to safety protocols is required. Travel between job sites may be required depending on project location. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all job sites.
Base salary range is $24-$45/hour, which varies depending on many factors, including relevant experience, skills and knowledge. Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test is required.
