Directional Drill Operator
Location
:
Harmony, MN (projects are within 1.5 hours from the shop in Harmony)
Salary
: $22-$30 per hour based on experience
All candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test as part of the hiring process. Ongoing drug testing may be required per company policy.
Summary
:
Responsible for operating directional drilling equipment to safely and efficiently install underground utilities. This includes interpreting job prints, coordinating with the crew, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring quality restoration of the job site.
- The operator addresses safety concerns and communicates them to the team.
- Effectively participates in the POD (Plan of Day) meeting and pre-job briefings.
- Operates equipment to complete objectives efficiently, safely, to our quality standard.
- Maintains a professional level of orderliness and cleanliness.
- The Operator follows the process for work, and actively participates in evaluating the work done.
- The Operator expresses a want for the work and is eager to get the drill in the ground!
- Setting up safety devices (cones, signs, barricades, trench safety equipment, etc.)
- Loading/Unloading equipment, chaining/unchaining equipment
- Performing inspection of vehicle and trailer to ensure proper loading and hooking up to trailer
- Stocking truck with materials/supplies
- Keeping rig/equipment clean and organized
- Digging with shovel and hydraulic equipment
- Locate, dig up, and expose existing utilities without damaging (using shovel or equipment)
- Guide and direct laborers
- Restore jobsite to standard
- Talk to customers on as needed basis
- Operate equipment
- Take ownership of safety on jobsite for all on site
- 1-3 Direction Drill experience, including setup, calibration, drill & pullback operations
- 3 years experience on a 20,000lb or bigger drill
- A strong “I’ll find a way to make it work” mindset
- Directional Drill Experience
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Valid CDL
- Ability to meet physical demands (lift 50+ lbs, bend, twist, dig, stand/walk for extended periods)
- Must pass a drug test
- Ability to work in changing weather conditions
- English/Spanish bilingual a plus
