The Flatwork Level 4 or 5 position is a highly skilled role focused on the precise finishing and installation of flat concrete surfaces such as floors, sidewalks, and slabs. The primary goal is to ensure that all flatwork projects meet stringent quality standards for durability, smoothness, and aesthetic appeal. This role requires expertise in interpreting blueprints, preparing surfaces, and applying finishing techniques to achieve optimal results.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers and other construction professionals to deliver projects on time and within budget. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in the structural integrity and visual quality of concrete flatwork in various construction environments across the United States.

• Proven experience as a flatwork finisher or concrete finisher with a minimum of 3 years in the field.
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with concrete finishing tools and equipment.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and OSHA regulations related to concrete work.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.

• Certification in concrete finishing or related trade.
• Experience with advanced finishing techniques such as power troweling and decorative concrete.
• Knowledge of concrete mix designs and curing compounds.
• Previous work experience on large-scale commercial or infrastructure projects.
• Basic skills in using digital tools for project documentation and communication.

• Prepare and level concrete surfaces using specialized tools and equipment to achieve smooth, even finishes.
• Interpret and follow detailed blueprints and project specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements.
• Operate and maintain finishing tools such as trowels, floats, and screeds to produce high-quality flatwork.
• Monitor curing processes and apply finishing treatments to enhance durability and appearance.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and ensure safety standards are met on site.

The required skills are applied daily to ensure that concrete flatwork is executed with precision and efficiency, from surface preparation to final finishing. Reading blueprints allows the candidate to understand project specifications and deliver work that meets design and safety standards. Proficiency with finishing tools enables the creation of smooth, durable surfaces that withstand environmental and usage stresses. Preferred skills such as advanced finishing techniques and knowledge of concrete chemistry enhance the quality and aesthetic of the finished product.
