Brief Description
The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. This role supports production by minimizing downtime through preventive maintenance and timely repairs. The electrician works with high- and low-voltage systems, motors, control panels, PLCs, and other electrical components, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and electrical codes.
Available ShiftsMonday-Thursday: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
Friday-Sunday: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM (+$2 Shift Differential)
CompensationThe compensation range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00. Final offers may vary based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The posted range represents the expected earning potential for this position within the current organizational budget and market conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including motors, transformers, control panels, and wiring.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues using test instruments and diagnostic tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Install and configure programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and automation systems.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in CMMS.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to support reliability initiatives.
- Participate in root cause analysis for electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Comply with all safety standards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
- Supports the Mission of the organization and adheres to all company policies.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical systems preferred.
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license (as required by local regulations).
- 3+ years of experience in industrial or maintenance electrical work.
- Certifications in NFPA 70E, OSHA safety, or PLC programming are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical circuits, motors, and control systems.
- Ability to work with PLCs, VFDs, and automation technologies.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety practices.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Basic computer skills for CMMS and reporting.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving around the production floor.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Repetitive motions, including twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- May involve operating machinery, tools, or equipment requiring manual dexterity and coordination.
- Bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and other physical activities may be required.
- Response time to electrical breakdowns.
- Reduction in electrical-related downtime.
- Preventive maintenance compliance rate.
- Accuracy of documentation and reporting.
- Regular exposure to loud noises in a manufacturing setting, may require the use of hearing protection.
- Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to hazards, including but not limited to dust, fumes, chemicals, or other airborne particles; use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
