PositionS.J. Louis is hiring a full-time Mechanic’s Assistant/General Shop Maintenance to support Construction Equipment Repair and Maintenance across our Rockville shop. This entry‑level role keeps equipment, tools, and work areas ready so mechanics can focus on safe, efficient repairs.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssisting with routine service and upkeep, basic troubleshooting, shop/yard organization, and helping with repairs on Diesel and Gas Engines.
Qualifications- Basic mechanic experience
- Diesel experience is helpful
- Welding is a plus
- Reliable attendance for a Monday‑Friday schedule
Pay is $20–$25 per hour.
Typical DayYou’ll start onsite by checking staged equipment and determining priorities, then move between the shop and yard to keep work flowing. Throughout the day you’ll coordinate with mechanics, track needed parts or supplies, and maintain a clean workspace. You’ll also spend time around Diesel and Gas Engines, learning how our team approaches Construction Equipment Repair and Maintenance while adapting to changing job demands.
