Trailer Mechanic
This role focuses on diagnosing and repairing trailers, performing inspections, and conducting preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers in accordance with company standards and DOT requirements. You will work primarily in a shop environment, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and well-maintained while keeping accurate records and collaborating closely with team members.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and perform repairs on trailers, trucks, and related equipment to meet company and DOT requirements.
- Complete preventative and required maintenance on a variety of trailers and equipment in the shop.
- Maintain accurate repair orders, repair history, and shop records for all work performed.
- Perform scheduled repairs and customization work as assigned by leadership or work orders.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks following established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Test and troubleshoot braking, electrical, and lighting systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Monitor and perform hub, axle, and brake component replacement and repair as needed.
- Conduct tire replacement and repair, including inspection and maintenance for safety and performance.
- Perform suspension repairs and troubleshoot and repair air system components on trailers.
- Carry out trailer body repairs to maintain structural integrity and appearance.
- Perform minor welding and fabrication on equipment when required to complete repairs or modifications.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to support overall shop operations and team goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to keeping the shop clean and orderly.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on mechanic experience working on trailers, trucks, or similar equipment.
- Proficiency in trailer repair, including diagnosis and correction of mechanical issues.
- Experience with diesel systems and diesel maintenance.
- Ability to test, repair, and maintain braking systems.
- Experience with welding for minor repairs and fabrication.
- Knowledge of diesel engines and engine repair.
- Familiarity with transmissions and related drivetrain components.
- Experience working on tractor trailers and heavy equipment.
- Experience in fleet maintenance and fleet repair operations.
- Ability to perform DOT inspections and understand DOT requirements.
- Experience with truck and trailer suspension systems.
- Skill in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and lighting systems.
- Ability to perform hub, axle, brake, tire, and air component repairs.
- Capability to work safely in a shop environment and follow safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation.

This is a Permanent position based out of Belgrade, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $63000.00/yr.
