Job Summary
Diesel Technician The role of Mechanic / Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the bus fleet to ensure safe and reliable operation. This includes performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and completing repairs according to manufacturer specifications and company standards. The Mechanic / Technician works closely with the Shop Foreman and operations team to minimize downtime and ensure timely completion of repairs.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on motor coach and school buses
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Maintain accurate maintenance records
- Inspect vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Order and install replacement parts as needed
- Collaborate with other mechanics and shop staff on complex repairs
- Follow company and manufacturer safety protocols
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience as a mechanic or technician
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of bus or heavy vehicle systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Familiarity with state and federal safety regulations
- Capability to obtain CDL and School Bus endorsement
- Inclination towards electrical components
