Responsibilities

Summary:The PLC Controls Technician will install and provide support and troubleshooting for Trident's new and existing automated processing equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspects existing automated equipment and assesses performance in relation to standards.
  • Troubleshoots issues and insufficiencies in performance and guides or performs adjustments.
  • Advises management regarding equipment performance, and suggestions for equipment and process improvements.
  • Supports maintenance and/or repair of equipment as needed.
  • Confers with vendors, supervisor, and other technical workers to assist with equipment installation, maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Enters information into computer to copy program or to draw, modify, or store schematics, applying knowledge of software package used.
  • Assists with implementation and/or monitoring of SOP's and ensures location staff is trained to standards.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to troubleshoot, maintain and install process controls systems.
  • Operates equipment to demonstrate use of equipment and to analyze malfunctions.
  • Determines feasibility of using standardized equipment and develops specifications for equipment required to perform additional functions.
  • Acquires working knowledge of Trident’s warehouse management system (EAM) including the requisition and asset management experience
  • Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.

Qualifications

Travel/On-Call Requirements:Not required for this position.

Required Qualifications: (Education, Years of Experience, Certifications)

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with industrial controls/automation installation, troubleshooting and repair.
  • One year certificate in maintenance related field from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Education & Experiences:

  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (500, 5000, Studio, Factory Talk View HMI, Power Flex)
  • Experience calibrating weighing systems
  • 5 years’ experience with industrial automation troubleshooting, adapting and repair of food processing equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Working knowledge of PLC system design, troubleshooting, programming, logic commands, software and hardware from a variety of PLC manufacturers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate process measurement equipment
  • Ability to adapt current PLC systems to changing plant needs
  • Basic network troubleshooting skills (Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP IP)
