S.J. Louis is hiring a full-time Mechanic's Assistant/General Shop Maintenance to support Construction Equipment Repair and Maintenance across our Rockville shop. This entry-level role exists to keep equipment, tools, and work areas ready so mechanics can stay focused on safe, efficient repairs.

Key responsibilities include assisting with routine service and upkeep, basic troubleshooting, shop/yard organization, and helping with repairs on Diesel and Gas Engines.

• Basic mechanic experience
• Diesel experience is helpful
• Welding is a plus
• Reliable attendance for a Monday-Friday schedule

Pay is $20-$25 per hour.

If you’re ready to build hands-on skills and contribute to a productive shop.

You’ll start onsite by checking what equipment is staged and what needs attention first, then move between the shop and yard to keep work flowing. Throughout the day, you’ll coordinate with mechanics on priorities, track needed parts or supplies, and keep your workspace clean and ready for the next task. You’ll also spend time around Diesel and Gas Engines, learning how our team approaches Construction Equipment Repair and Maintenance while adjusting to changing needs as jobs come in.
