Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Crime Victim Advocate and Community Educator to join our team in Long Prairie.

The role is essential in providing support and guidance to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and general crime ensuring they have access to resources and understand their rights throughout the criminal justice process.

Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support and advocacy for victims of crime.
  • Assist victims in navigating the civil as well as criminal justice systems, including court proceedings.
  • Explain legal processes and victim rights in clear, understandable terms.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community agencies.
  • Help victims access resources, such as counseling, financial assistance, and safety planning.
  • Maintain confidential, detailed records of interactions with victims and the services provided.
  • Provide community presentations and other outreach to schools, civic groups, churches, businesses, and other professionals in both Todd and Morrison counties.
  • Rotating on-call requirement for 24-hour hotline.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and court procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate empathy.
  • Experience in victim advocacy or related field preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or related field preferred.
