The Social Worker is a key member of the student support team, providing social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health services. This position supports student success through crisis response, attendance intervention, providing resources for highly mobile families and coordination with special education teams. This position collaborates with students, families, staff, community agencies, and outside providers to promote academic achievement, positive behavior, and overall well-being.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Social Work required;
Master's Degree preferred. Current Minnesota Board of Social Work License or ability to obtain licensure by Fall 2026. Valid Minnesota School Social Worker License issued by PELSB.
Experience in a secondary (9-12) school setting. Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), restorative practices, and trauma-informed care. Experience collaborating with community agencies and mental health providers. Familiarity with special education programming and requirements. Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral needs, including exposure to Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) programming.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of behavioral interventions, mental health supports, counseling techniques, and community resources. Ability to conduct assessments and provide effective social work, crisis intervention, and referral services. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams from diverse backgrounds. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesStudent Services and Support
- Assess student needs using formal and informal methods.
- Provide individual and group social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health support.
- Develop and implement interventions to address academic, attendance, behavioral, and social concerns.
- Facilitate re-entry meetings and coordinate supports for students returning from treatment, hospitalization, or extended absences.
- Connect students and families with school and community resources.
