Through lived experience that includes recovery from substance use, homelessness, and effective treatment of mental health conditions, the Peer Specialist offers insight and first‑hand knowledge to support clients, families, and their integrated teams. The role focuses on strengths, empowerment, and advocacy to help clients overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

Credentialing & Privileging
:
In order to ensure that our consumers receive the best possible care, the candidate chosen will be required to complete our internal credentialing and privileging process before a start date. The timeline depends on the selected candidate’s submission of required documents. A start date will be scheduled once credentialing and privileging are complete.
- Valid driver’s license required (may be waived based on overall experience and current needs).

- Provide mentorship and support to clients through lived experience to build skills in goal setting and problem solving, emphasizing strengths, resilience, and empowerment.
- Facilitate counseling and activities for clients recovering from substance use disorders in individual or group settings.
- Help clients coordinate and navigate critical integrated services, including health care, housing assistance, and behavioral health, in partnership with internal teams and community partners.
- Transport and escort clients to scheduled appointments at Coalition properties and elsewhere as needed, using a CCH vehicle or an approved personal vehicle.
- Collaborate with Coalition staff to foster trusting relationships with clients and ensure timely, goal‑aligned service delivery.
- Conduct ongoing outreach within the community to monitor recovery‑oriented needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical and non‑clinical services, communications, and tasks in the EHR and other required systems, ensuring charts remain up‑to‑date.
- Completion of accredited Peer Specialist training program preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Bi‑lingual English‑Spanish and/or ASL preferred.
- Must maintain a Colorado driver’s license in good standing within 30 days of hire.
- Prior peer‑mentoring experience serving individuals with behavioral health challenges and/or homelessness highly preferred.
