Software Project Mgr/ Lead, Full Stack Developer
Location: Finland
At the heart of everything we do is people, their well-being and our values. We are now looking for Software Developers or Software Architects who wish to expand their role to include a People Lead role.
You will be a part of Solita’s Development unit’s close-knit People Lead community. The unit is Solita's largest, consisting of approximately 500 software development professionals. In addition to supporting individuals, People Leads play a key role in ensuring that business goals, customer needs and team capabilities are aligned. One of the core tasks of People Leads is to proactively respond to changes that may affect customer delivery or business continuity.
We are looking for People Leads primarily to our office locations in Helsinki, Tampere or Oulu.
Your day-to-day tasks continue to include Software Developer or Software Architect role in addition to People Lead tasks.
Your team will consist mainly of Software Developers and Architects. To support your additional People Lead role, your Business Area lead and Human Resources Business Partner are there to help. You will be surrounded by a community of more than thirty other Consultant-People leads or Project lead
- People Leads from the Development unit. In Solita overall, there are over a hundred people having a People Lead role in addition to their main role, so you will never feel alone!
At Solita, the daily work of software architects and developers revolves around meaningful projects that genuinely impact people’s lives, combining modern technologies, high-quality engineering and close collaboration with skilled, multidisciplinary teams. A typical day can involve designing and implementing both new and more traditional systems, understanding customer needs, defining technical solutions, and doing hands-on development with technologies such as Java, .NET,
Node.js, or modern frontend frameworks.
Architects set the direction and establish the foundation for projects while staying involved in practical development work, and developers turn ideas into production-ready solutions using agile methods, automation, and continuous delivery. What unites both roles is a drive to learn, help others, solve real problems in the right way, and build sustainable, long-lasting software as part of a relaxed, caring, and courageous community that values work–life balance.
Theadditional tasks that come from the People Lead role
- Looking after the well-being of your team members based on Solita values and leadership principles
- Development discussions, learning paths, and rotation planning together with staffing
- Recruiting and onboarding new team members
- Regular salary discussions with your team members
- Collaboration with staffing, other Dev People Leads, recruitment and team members’ project leads
- Ensuring business profitability by managing team resources efficiently, supporting performance and overseeing daily operational processes such as time tracking and absences
- Depending on the priorities of the role, balancing time between your expert work and people management
- Strong experience in software development and familiarity with both the backend and the frontend, as well as with cloud technologies.
- A genuine interest in people and team leadership and preferably previous experience in leading individuals and teams.
- Desire to help and listen to others, develop the community and willingness to take responsibility
- Communication skills and the ability to give and receive meaningful feedback. Teams consist of people with varied backgrounds from senior technical skills to new up and coming talent.
- Enthusiasm to participate in recruitment and onboarding
- Business acumen and an understanding of how to make individuals, teams and Solita’s goals support each other
- Finnish and English language skills
- Experience in IT projects and understanding of the opportunities and constraints brought by different technologies in relation to client projects and team members' career paths and competences. In recruitment interviews, you will identify the right talent for the team and communicate Solita’s culture to the outside world.
