Reports To:
Aquatics Center Coordinator & Fitness and Aquatic Center Supervisor
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility.
- Able to act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Maintains a clean facility performing house cleaning duties.
- Assists Lifeguard personnel with knowledge of policies and procedures as well as departmental goals and objectives.
- Assists in the new lifeguard orientation process.
- Occasionally assists with in‑service training.
- Inventories and recognizes when supplies or equipment need to be ordered and communicates the needs to the Aquatics Coordinator.
- Assists Aquatics Coordinator as requested.
- Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, supervisors, and other employees.
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsible.
- Ability to be a team player.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and/or stamina to effectively rescue victims, administer first aid, and CPR.
- Ability to perform work, which involves frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy objects.
- Ability to hear and distinguish a variety of sounds in a noisy environment such as participants in need of assistance, whistles, or co‑workers requesting assistance in a rescue effort.
- Ability to see patrons in need of assistance from any distance.
- Ability to speak loudly to warn program participants of impending danger.

Age 17 years or older. - Required:
Previous lifeguard experience.

- Additional Requirements
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (required).
- Working knowledge of lifesaving techniques.
- Strong swimming and lifesaving abilities.
Shifts vary Monday through Sunday at the New Prague Fitness and Aquatic Center. This position would include approximately 20+ hours per week in the summer, with potential for some hours throughout the school year.
TrainingAttendance at monthly/bimonthly staff trainings is required.
