Responsibilities

  • Promote safety throughout all areas of fleet operations, including the dispatching of loads in accordance with the drivers hours of availability.
  • Focus on driver retention by understanding driver requirements/preferences, by monitoring driver performance to ensure driver requirements are being met, and by keeping drivers informed and motivated.
  • Identify, track, and resolve performance issues by conducting driver evaluations and driver route and hold meetings.
  • Resolve driver conflicts, problems, and requests with respect to matters such as pay, equipment, and load assignments.
  • Ensure the awareness of and enforce company policies.
  • Maintain records pertaining to driver performance and productivity.
  • Schedules and administers fleet maintenance, assists in troubleshooting problems with equipment. Communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and other operations personnel.
  • Works closely with the location manager and region maintenance management providing status of maintenance and budget requirements. May review financial and budget variances, review repair orders or code and approve account payable documents.
  • Reviews repair orders. May order fuel for vehicles, order parts, and subcontract repair work.
  • Initiates and implements projects that improve efficiency and/or reduces operating costs.
  • Ensures that maintenance technicians are trained on current operating procedures, are properly equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
  • Provides direct supervision to fleet operation functions. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, development and retention of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

Education/

Experience:

Associate degree from two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. 5+ years of experience managing the maintenance, dispatch, and driving functions of fleet operations. Previous supervisory experience is required. Industry experience repairing and maintaining automotive, diesel, CNG engines. Possess or obtain CDL operator’s license.

Salary Range: $36-$42/hour
