Pay Range: $22.00 to $31.00
New Hire Bonus: $2,500.00
Shift: Monday-Friday, 5:00 am start time
Job SummaryDrivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load‑lift attachments. Depending on the line of business and truck type, drivers transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers provide pickup service for containers filled with waste or recyclable material, which may weigh over 1,000 pounds and require maneuvering to a pickup stage area.
They navigate high‑traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, using skilled backing maneuvers. Residential Drivers collect household waste or recyclable material and safely manoeuvre vehicles in residential environments. Roll‑Off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations, operating on industrial routes and sometimes in tight overhead environments, again employing advanced backing skills.
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
- Immediately report unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required.
- Work closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify Route Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions (closed or impassable streets or alleyways, excessively heavy receptacles, or potential safety hazards).
- Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager.
- Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments as directed and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
- Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Required Qualifications:
- No experience required.
- Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
- Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- Successfully complete pre‑employment screening, including drug screen and physical examination.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with an air‑brake endorsement.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B with an air‑brake endorsement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. (accredited).
