Job SummaryMarathon Petroleum Company is seeking a Material Handler to support warehouse operations at the St. Paul Park Refinery. This role performs material handling activities in support of routine maintenance, ensuring materials are received, stored, staged, and issued safely, accurately, and efficiently, and interfaces daily with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, delivery drivers, and supplier representatives while playing a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting site reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, inspect, and process inbound shipments, verifying materials against packing slips and SAP records.
- Pull, stage, and issue materials for maintenance and operations using SAP and Fiori tools.
- Perform cycle counts and inventory audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely (forklifts, pallet jacks, transport vehicles).
- Execute material transactions in SAP including receipts, issues, transfers, and inventory adjustments.
- Support Positive Material Identification (PMI) and quality verification processes as required.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support compliance and audit requirements.
- Assist in resolving material issues including damaged, over/short, or non-conforming items.
- Support hazardous materials shipping and ensure compliance with DOT/IATA requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure material availability.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement efforts.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment.
- SAP or ERP experience (inventory/material management).
- 1–3+ years of warehouse/material handling experience.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain.
- Hazardous materials handling/shipping experience.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Follow all site safety requirements including PPE and safe equipment use.
- Perform daily equipment inspections (e.g., forklifts).
- Ensure hazardous materials are properly handled and cleared from dock areas daily.
- Maintain strong attention to detail for SAP accuracy and audit compliance.
- Demonstrate clear communication, teamwork, and accountability.
